Too Much Noise
Visual noise, audio noise. It is all just noise.
Too many things vying for too little available attention.
It is amazing the things that we think devices and software can take of for us.
And somehow we think that an app is going to solve everything.
We will be organized, productive and we will never miss anything again.
That's only possible in a world where there is any new information. That world doesn't exist.
Managing things based on what has happened before is not possible.
Any system to be worthwhile needs to have entry points for new information. And it is not just adding more of the same data, but adding new information that challenges everything.
