System Overload

There are so many systems in the modern world.

There are systems to manage systems and systems to manage systems of systems.

The systems are tenuously held together.

The beautiful thing is that these systems weren't built from the ground up to be a system.

They just kind of evolved over time.

Certainly, if you set out to design a system for the modern world, it probably wouldn't look like this.

Many systems are built on top of old systems and are still living with constraints from the 1980s or even earlier.

And that's only talking about digital systems, but there are many more types of systems.

The systems connect sometimes, but mostly there are only strange patches and workarounds.

The rules of the system can be quite complex which is why sometimes humans need to override the system.
