Prompt engineers used to mean engineers that showed up on time. It used to be a character trait, now it is a career track. Crafting good prompts for Generative AI is an important and valuable skill, but it is another gradual step of ceding control to computer code. In theory, turning things over to code will free our minds to work on more creative things, but I wonder if that is how it will work out.
