Clarity vs. Ambiguity

Clarity is a great goal, but sometimes ambiguity is necessary.

Since information reveals itself over time, things start off amorphous and unknown.

Modern information systems have both structured and free form tools to store information.

There are pros and cons of each approach. Freeform data is easier to get started with but often lacks consistency which makes harder to maintain over time.

Structured tools are often too rigid to accommodate the ambiguity of the real world.

The progression from ambiguity to clarity is not linear either so information is often in both states at the same.
