All information is not equal. The value of information varies according to the situation and the type of information it is.
Here are four different types of information that would have different values:
Reactive information - what do I need to do at this instant to survive/thrive
Coordinating information - what are we doing and where are we doing it.
Historical information - what did we do
Predictive information - what information might tell me something useful about the future.
When we start to deconstruct corporate information systems we need to look at it from the point of view of how information is being used.
