The promise of AI is to Automate Routine Tasks (ART). Computers have been freeing humans from routine tasks since their inception.

As routine tasks have been automated, new routine tasks are spawned to fill in the time. The idea that people’s time will be freed up for more “important” tasks is only partially true. In reality, there is only so much more creative work that can be processed.

While time may be saved on routine tasks, systems may actually have a negative effect on creativity. Organizations only have capacity for so many new initiatives at one time…

And prioritizing the new activities is also a bit of an art form.
